What to check in Japanese net-nets

Since March 2023 the Tokyo Stock Exchange has asked companies trading below book value to disclose plans to improve. Check whether a company has published one, whether it is raising dividends or buying back shares, and how much of its current assets are cash and listed securities rather than inventory.

Wherever it is listed, a net-net is cheap for a reason. Our 10-point net-net checklist covers the questions to ask of every company.

How EveryNetNet lists Japanese net-nets

EveryNetNet lists every company it can find whose market cap is at or below its net current asset value (P/NCAV above 0 and at most 1.0). All figures are in US dollars and the list updates daily. The methodology page explains the formula, the data and what is excluded.

Japanese net-nets are part of Pro, which shows the full list across 50+ countries and lets you filter by country to see Japan only. The free plan covers 50 US net-nets.
